High school, college, and adult audiences may benefit from an interactive lecture rather than my traditional workshops. Reach out via my contact page to begin a conversation about hosting me in your classroom!

I offer two speaking topics for classes:
The Artists' Role in Drawing Diversity, which covers the research and creative process of learning to draw visually diverse characters. Content includes discussion of visual ethnicity cues, illustrating medical devices, body type, disabilities and the intersection of these categories. This topic helps listeners understand how they can improve visual diversity in their own work, and how they can confront bias in their artist practice. Thirty minutes speaking time with thirty minutes of questions/activities.
OR
Diversity in Children's Media, which covers a brief history of representation in children's media and what we can learn from it. This lecture begins with a quick timeline overview showing a century of art/artists who have championed diversity in popular (mainly U.S. based) media, then proceeds to focus on current art/artists who are excellent examples of how to celebrate diversity in children's media. Examples will include ethnic, body type, and cultural diversity plus examples of characters with scars and disabilities. Thirty minutes speaking time with thirty minutes of questions/activities.
